Cecily Brown is a British artist, daughter of acclaimed novelist Shena McKay and art critic David Sylvester. Inspired by artists including Joan Mitchell, Willem de Kooning and Nicolas Poussin, Brown’s works can be found in the permanent collections of several important museums and private collections. Drawing from abstract impressionism, themes of sexuality and attraction are prominent in her work which often lies at the nexus of semi-figurative and abstract.
